(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he was found passed out in his vehicle in the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy Monday afternoon.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers were called to business at 5:11 p.m. because of a motorist slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle.
When officers arrived they found the vehicle parked sideways in a parking lot with a portion of the vehicle blocking traffic.
"Officers knocked on the window several times attempting to wake the driver," Parsley says. "But he wouldn't respond, so they opened the door and had to shake him awake."
Officers say the vehicle and the man had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
Officers says 26-year-old Nathan Kimbrel was intoxicated, uncooperative, had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
He was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
