(BLOOMFIELD) - A Bloomington man was arrested after Bloomfield police find Valium and meth.
Officers arrested 39-year-old Shane Walters, on charges of possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Bloomfield police were called to a Bloomfield motel around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday after a store clerk reported Walters had hit a woman during an argument.
The clerk told police that the woman and Walters were now in their motel room.
Police went to the room and the woman answered the door. She told police the two had been in an argument, but denied Walters had hit her.
Walters was not at the motel.
When officers arrived at the store they saw Walters exit the business and enter the business' restroom.
The store clerk told police Walters was "acting strange" and had returned to the store restroom twice.
After about 15 minutes, police knocked on the restroom door telling Walters he needed to come out.
When Walters finally exited the restroom, officers searched Walters and found a bag of marijuana and a straw that contained a white substance. Walters told police the white substance was from prescription pills he ingested.
One officer found a syringe with meth and two yellow Valium pills in the trash can in the restroom.
Police determined Walters did not have a prescription for the Valium.
Walters later admitted to throwing the items in the trash, but said they were not his and he had taken them from the woman at the motel.
