(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police detectives are investigating the armed robbery at the Wild Side Smoke Shop.
Officers were alerted to the robbery just after before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the shop located downtown.
The clerk told police, a black man walking into the shop wanting to purchase a pipe but then pulled out an automatic handgun.
Bloomington Captain Joe Qualters says the man wearing a balaclava, cut all the wires to the surveillance system and demanded the clerk give him all the money in the shop;
A balaclava, also known as a balaclava helmet or ski mask, is a form of cloth headgear designed to expose only part of the face. Depending on style and how it's worn only the eyes, mouth and nose, or just the front of the face are unprotected. Versions with a full face opening may be rolled into a hat to cover the crown of the head or folded down as a collar around the neck.
The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bloomington Police Department.
