(MITCHELL) - This years theme of the 69th Mitchell Persimmon Festival is “Celebrating the Sound of Music.”
The Times-Mail reports that Teresa Reynolds, who is directing the 2015 Persimmon Festival, chose the theme and retired Mitchell Community Schools music teacher Ellis Fisher was chosen to serve as the parade grand marshal. Ellis, who retired in May, taught music education for 39 years at Mitchell.
The 69th Mitchell Persimmon Festival, sponsored by The Greater Mitchell Chamber of Commerce, is set for September 19th-26th.
New this year will be "Sidewalk Chalk" - which will bring local musician downtown to play on Main Street. Each night groups will perform between Fifth and Sixth streets between 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chalk boards will be set up at the location introducing each group.
