(SPRINGVILLE) - A fire destroys the home of Kevin and Jane Parsley on Popcorn Road Friday night.
Firefighters from Perry, Oolitic and Marshall Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the blaze at 251 Popcorn Road at 9:46 p.m. after a nearby resident reported the fire.
According to Perry VFD Chief Max Peters when firefighters arrived the roof had collapsed on the large one-story home.
Jane and Kevin were home with their two disabled Sons and escaped unharmed. The family was able to fled with only the clothes on their backs.
Peters says the fire was electrical in nature.
Firefighters were on the scene until 2 a.m., but were called back about an hour later when the fire rekindled. Then again between 7:30 to 8 a.m. Saturday morning when the fire rekindled again.
Peters praised the quick response of the other fire departments.
"Both departments were here within minutes," Peters says.
