(BROWNSTOWN) - The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning an open house for its renovated 7,246 square foot Brownstown Unit facility, a former automobile dealership, and the newly constructed 6,926 square foot salt building nearby.
INDOT Spokesman Harry Maginity says that you are invited to tour the facility from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 19. INDOT's new Brownstown Unit is located along U.S. Highway 50 at 700 N. Main Street.
INDOT says that ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled that day for 1:30 p.m.
Maginity says this major renovation at the INDOT maintenance building was performed by Mattcon General Contractors for $609,000. Construction costs for the salt building was $738,000. Maginity adds that a new $250,000 wash bay will soon be made operational at the complex.
Maginity notes that the INDOT Brownstown Unit is the hub of maintenance and snow/ice operations for Jackson County, along with portions of Brown and Lawrence counties. He says the unit is responsible for 315 lane miles on U.S. Highway 50, State Road 11, S.R. 58, S.R. 135, S.R. 235, S.R. 250, S.R. 258 and S.R. 446.
