(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County deputies arrested a man who was armed with a knife and refused to get out of a woman’s van, after a 90 minute standoff early Tuesday morning.
Capt. Ryan Davis says the man suffered a self-inflicted cut to his arm and was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
Officers went to the 3700 block of East Doar Road at 6:41 a.m. after a woman reported she tried to leave her house for work, but a man she knew had gotten into her van and refused to get out.
The woman told police the man also attempted to break into her home and broke a window.
When police arrived they found the man barricaded in the woman's van, which was parked in the driveway.
Police say the man was incoherent and pulled a large knife.
After 90 minutes of negotiations the man opened the door, part way so he could better communicate with officer. That is when police were able to pull him from the vehicle.
No officers were injured in the standoff.
