(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly beat a young boy with a belt and left the boy injured.
Mitchell Police arrested 22-year-old Nathaniel Reed after the Department of Child Services received a complaint of possible child abuse and requested a welfare check on the victim.
Officers went to the 100 block of Dale Street at 2:24 p.m. where Reed was arrested on a charge of battery on a minor younger than 14 years old.
Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman says Reed used a belt to strike a boy causing bruising to the boy's right wrist and lower back. The boy is an acquaintance of Reed.
Reed is being held on a $744 cash bond or $7,500 surety.
