(LYONS) - For the first time, four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to area students at the Greene County Agriculture Day which will be held in the Lyons Community Building on Thursday, March 12 at 6 p.m.
The Greene County Daily World reports, the scholarships are for any high school or college student interested or pursuing a degree in post secondary education in the field of agriculture.
Applications for the scholarship must be turned in by March 6 at 12 p.m. at the Farm Bureau location in Bloomfield.
Due to the ongoing construction at the 4-H Fairgrounds, this is the first year Greene County Agriculture Day will be held in the Lyons Community Building.
During the event, local agricultural businesses will be on site and are seeking both youth and students for internships and summer jobs.
Tickets for the 2015 Greene County Agriculture Day will be $5 in advance (available at both Farm Bureau locations) and $10 at the door. The price of admission also includes a dinner. All proceeds are going to the scholarships and for the dinner.
