(BEDFORD) - A total of 87 women and girls were recognized at the 11th annual Walk with Excellence program Tuesday.
Shelley Kenworthy was awarded with the League of Their Own award.
Kenworthy, who is the wife of Jack Kenworthy who serves as the chairman of the board of Bedford Federal Savings Bank, has been a long-time volunteer for many Lawrence County projects like United Way and Lawrence InterFaith Endeavor.
The second League of Their Own Award went to 88-year-old Sheila Dorsett, a long-time Mitchell volunteer. Dorsett volunteers working with voter registration and as a poll worker for elections. She also volunteers at LIFE food pantry.
The mother-daughter team of Debbie Kellam and Brittany Kellam McClain was given the Pacesetter award.
Debbie McClain is owner of Tri-County Steel and co-owner of Union Optical with her husband along with several other business creating more than 60 jobs in Lawrence County. Brittany serves on the board of directors at the Bedford Chamber and coaches an elite dance team. She was also instrumental in starting Rendezvous on the Runway.
Hope Flores the executive director of the Lawrence County Community Foundation, was also honored.
