(PANAMA CITY) - Bedford man helps land a 600 pound Mako Shark at Panama City Beach.
Friday night, Douglas Harlan was out fishing with Off the Beach Shark Fishing when he landed the more than 600 pound beast.
Mypanhandle.com reports, seven men and an hour and a half later the team had their prize in the form on a 10 foot long Mako Shark.
"It was pretty impressive I couldn't believe it," said Douglas Harlan, vacationing from Indiana. "It just blew my mind to land something that big -- I never expected anything like that.Crappie fishing is not going to be the same back in Indiana but I will do what I can. I enjoy fishing, but I will definitely be back down here trying to catch a bigger fish."
The crew caught the fish at night in deep waters, so there was no threat to any human life. The crew filet the shark and plan on giving it to family and friends.
