(BLOOMINGTON) - In April, the City of Bloomington’s Council for Community Accessibility (CCA) celebrates Accessibility Awareness Month.
A wealth of activities will be occurring in Bloomington and on the Indiana University campus during the month to educate the community and advocate for accessibility issues. Individuals with disabilities, family members, service providers, faculty and other community members are encouraged to attend and participate in the events.
The CCA will join several organizations throughout the Bloomington community to host activities related to accessibility. The range of activities will include walks, trainings, fairs, film showings and a symposium. Dates and times of each event will vary. A full list of activities, including attendance and contact information, is available online at https://bloomington.in.gov/cca.
The Council for Community Accessibility is a volunteer group that advocates for the interests of people with disabilities. The CCA promotes awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities and works to develop solutions to problems of accessibility in the community. The Council was established to provide assessment of the needs and available services for persons with disabilities; promote access to places of public accommodation, housing, programs and services; promote the best interests of persons with disabilities by supporting specific, identified issues; serve as a resource to the community; develop coalitions with groups that share similar interests and actively work to accomplish the objectives of the organization. More information about the CCA can be found at bloomington.in.gov/CCA.
