(SPRINGVILLE) - A Bloomington woman suffered internal head injuries and was flown by helicopter to a Louisville Hospital Saturday afternoon.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 42-year-old Melissa Klocker was injured around 4:14 p.m. in an accident on State Road 54. A bystander performed CPR until members of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene.
After an ambulance crew arrived Klocker was taken to the Springville Elementary School where the helicopter landed to transport her to Louisville.
Klocker was a passenger in a 2001 Izuzu Rodeo driving by 16-year-old Jonathan Roehr, also of Bloomington. Roehr was injured but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Roehr told police he was driving east on State Road 54 when he "closed his eyes for two seconds and drove left of center."
Police say he then over-corrected the vehicle which caused the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road and into a ditch and then a wire fence. The vehicle then overturned.
