(BROWN CO.) - Nine people who were staying in Brown County State Park escaped safely Friday morning after a fire ripped through their cabin.
Danny Pfleider and Heather Deckard were staying in the Leghorn Tharp family cabin at the Abe Martin Lodge with two other adults and five children.
Everyone was in the cabin when Pfleider noticed the roof was on fire around the chimney.
They all grabbed their belongings and fled the cabin.
Nashville, Jackson, Hamblen and Van Buren Township volunteer fire departments responded.
Brown County firefighter Kurt Young says about 40 percent of the cabin was damaged. Most of the damage was to the upper level of the cabin and the roof area.
The fire is still under investigation.
