(WASHINGTON) - Jake Durnil was named the head football coach of the Washington Hatchets.
The announcement was made at a specially called School Board meeting Thursday night
Durnil, a 1995 graduate of WHS, was an all-round athlete in his playing days for the Hatchets. He is currently a fifth grade teacher at North Elementary, and has coached for fifteen years at all levels in the football, basketball, and track programs.
This past year, the Washington Football team was full of freshmen and Durnil says he wants to go into the next season with aggressive optimism.
Durnil say Dr. Marcus Thorne, Gary Issa, and Eric Browning have agreed to be part of his staff, but that he is also looking for other former players and coaches to help fill positions on his staff.
