(DAVIESS CO.) - This Saturday, March 7th 2015, there will be a Regional SeaPerch Competition held at North Daviess High School hosted by the NSWC Crane STEM program and the North Daviess Robotics and Innovation Club where 50 teams from across the state ranging from grades 4th - 12th will be competing for a chance to go to Nationals at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Live video recording of the event will be provided by Washington High School.
SeaPerch teams learn basic engineering skills in an effort to build, program and control small robots that maneuver underwater in a pool through timed obstacle courses and tasks. The students employ math skills, learn about DC motors and electricity, operate soldering irons, employ trial and error design processes, and dive into underwater fun in the learning process.
The SeaPerch program, primarily sponsored by the U.S. Navy Office of Naval Research, aims to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math fields.
