(BEDFORD) - Two women were injured in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 50 East at Shawswick Station Road Thursday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 59-year-old Charlotte Ruther of Medora was traveling east on U.S. 50 East when she drove her 2004 F-150 pickup truck off the south side of the road, pulled back onto the roadway and over-corrected. The vehicle then slid sideways, running off the north side of the road and directly into the path of a 2000 Ford SE driving by 29-year-old Camillya Duncan of Bloomington.
Police say Duncan was unable to avoid the collision.
Duncan was trapped in her truck and had to be freed from the wreckage by the Bedford Fire Department extrication unit. She suffered internal injuries and was taken by ambulance to IU Health Hospital and then flown by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital.
Ruther suffered shoulder and upper arm pain and was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.
