(LOOGOOTEE) - A tip called in to the State Police Post in Jasper on Monday evening revealed drug information with an unfortunate twist.
Senior Trooper Jarrod Lents received information from a citizen concerned about possible drug activity going on at 214 Southeast First Street in Loogootee. The citizen was additionally concerned about the activity because a two year old child lived at the home.
At 7:15 p.m. Monday, Senior Trooper Lents, Trooper Mitch Wier, Loogootee Officer Rick Norris and the Indiana Department of Child Services arrived at the Loogootee address to follow up on the information.
Officers were met at the door by 28-year-old William Bradley of Loogootee.
Officers could immediately smell the odor of marijuana from outside the door, with the odor becoming overwhelming after stepping inside.
Once inside, officers found 24-year-old Joshua Lee Cropp of Bedford and a two-year old male.
Trooper Lents obtained a search warrant through Martin County Court and officers searched the home finding nearly 1.5 pounds of marijuana and a legend drug.
Bradley and Cropp were arrested and taken to the Martin County Jail. Bradley is facing felony charges of maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a legend drug and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Croop is facing misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.
A third person, 20-year-old Traci L. Hall-Johnson of Loogootee, arrived at the home while officers were there. She too was arrested since she was a resident of the home. She is facing felony charges of neglect of a dependent, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a legend drug and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The two-year old child was placed with a relative.
This case remains under investigation.
The Indiana State Police continue to ask citizens to call the State Police Post when they have information on possible drug activity, especially if it is occurring around children.
