(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police stopped him because his temporary tag had expired.
34-year-old Terry Lewis was arrested after police found meth and pills and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
He was also charged with driving while his driver's license was suspended.
At 1:50 a.m., Tuesday a Lawrence County Police Department officer pulled over Lewis at the intersection of Ind. 37 and Old U.S. 50, after he noticed the temporary tag was expired and learned it was for a different vehicle then the black Ford Ranger pickup truck Lewis was driving.
According to Sheriff Mike Branham, two other officers were called to assist, and one of them saw a handful of pills in plain view, Branham said. The pills were confiscated and found to be tizanidine, a Schedule IV controlled substance.
After Lewis was taken to the jail, a canine alerted police that there was more drugs were found in the truck including a plastic baggie that contained a white powdery substance that tested positive for meth and a syringe.
