(BEDFORD) - The robotics squad Team 5403 Aluminosity will head to St. Louis to compete against 607 teams from across the globe in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics world championship.
The team will to take part in the four-day tournament at the Edward James Dome, home of the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League.
The team advanced after earning the Rookie All-Star submission at the state competition April 3-4.
According to senior Jake Brazzell, the award is based on the team's efforts to work on projects revolving around science, technology, math and engineering throughout the county.
The goal of the competition is "to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication and leadership," according to www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc.
