(BEDFORD) - Cancer has unfortunately affected all of us in one shape or form, whether it has been a relative, a close friend, or even you - everyone shares in the battle.
You can help strike out cancer with the Bedford North Lawrence Baseball team.
The team is sponsoring a Coaches vs. Cancer game to raise money for the American Cancer Society on April 23. The goal is to raise $2500 during fund-raising events prior to and during the game.
One of the highlights of this game against Columbus East is players will be batting with symbolic pink wooden bats and players on both teams will be wearing special uniforms for the event.
The week prior to the game, BNL Star players will be selling baseball-shaped "In Memory of" or "In Honor of" cardstock placards during school lunches for $1 to be posted on the dugout on game day. Team members will also be selling $10 luminaries that will line the walkway up to the field. These items will also be sold prior to the game to interested fans.
The gate fees of $5, will be part of the fund-raising effort.
Business and families can help by buying "sponsorships" on large banners that will be displayed game day, at the Relay for Life event and future Coaches vs. Cancer games. To purchase a sponsorship contact Teresa Hollers at teresa@bedfed.com
