(BLOOMINGTON) - Little 500 citations were cut in half this year.
Police cited 110 people as of Sunday morning. That number is likely to change as more citations were issued on Sunday.
Normally around 230 citations are issued during the event.
Those issued citation were waiting in line Sunday to be waived through security inside the Monroe County Justice Building to enter the Little 500 pretrial diversion program or to opt out and go through the court system.
Those that chose to participate in the pretrial diversion program pay a $425 program fee and spent Sunday afternoon picking up trash and then later participated in an alcohol and marijuana presentation. They must also have no other criminal offenses in a year. If they fail to comply, they will find themselves facing a judge.
Those who opted out of the program were issued a court date.
