(DUGGER) - Police say a Dugger man made threats while wielding a stolen handgun last week.
Police arrested 22-year-old Chase Allen Cooksey on charges of invasion of privacy, disorderly conduct, intimidation with a handgun, possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of a handgun with an altered or removed serial number and possession of a stolen handgun.
According to Sullivan County Sheriff's Department news release, officers were called to a Dugger residence around 8:45 a.m. Friday, April 3, after a woman told police her grandson, Cooksey, and his father were fighting and that Cooksey had a gun and a large knife.
However, before officers arrived, the woman, Cooksey and his father had left the home, that police say was left in shambles.
Police say there were holes in the drywall and the house was completely destroyed inside.
Officers learned Cooksey was staying at another home in Dugger and he was arrested.
Cooksey told police the gun he used was a toy, but police found the gun Cooksey allegedly hid in a bucket in an abandoned trailer on the property. Police say the serial number had been partially filed away, but enough remained that police were able to identify that it had been stolen from a Linton residence last November.
Cooksey remained jailed on a $57,000 bond.
