(MONROVIA) - 44-year-old Steven Shuler thought he had outsmarted law enforcement by evading arrest, but the next day he was begging for them for help.
Morgan County Warrant Officer Steve Goss went to Shuler's home in the 100 block of West Main Street in Monrovia Monday morning. He was there to arrest Shuler on a warrant for a probation violation.
According to Goss, the woman at the home told police Shuler was not there.
But Shuler hadn't left the home - he was hiding from police.
The next day Goss returned to the home, but this time the woman came running out to meet him. She told police Shuler was trapped between the walls inside home.
Shuler had climbed onto the second floor of the home and lowered himself down into a "dead space" between the wall. Police told police he had planned to wait there until officer Gross left and then climb out - but that didn't happen he was stuck.
Monroe Township Fire Department was called to free Shuler.
Firefighters had to remove one of the ceiling braces to get Shuler out of the wall.
After being freed from the wall, Shuler wasn't free for long - he was arrested and now is behind bars at the Morgan County Jail.
