(ODON) - A team of forensic anthropologists from the University of Indianapolis were in Odon Wednesday searching for answers to questions local authorities have about remains that were found in a drainage culvert near 203 South Grove Street.
The forensic team from the university arrived in Odon around 10 a.m. Wednesday but the team was unable to comment on the investigation. They were on the scene until late Wednesday afternoon.
Daviess County Sheriff Jerry Harbstreit says the team recovered what appeared to be full human remains and it will take about a month or two before they have any results.
"Little is known about the body at this time," Harbstreit says. "We are hoping to get some answers. Anyone with information about the body is asked to call the Daviess County Sheriff's Department."
According to a call log from the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, dispatch received a call about a bag of bones wrapped in plastic with a gun next to it.
Daviess County Coroner Laura Petty says the bones were found when two young adults were exploring the area and stumbled across them.
