(WASHINGTON CO.) - Three people were arrested on drug charges during an investigation into a convicted sex offender who had failed to register his current address as required by law.
According to Indiana State Police, troopers investigating 41-year-old James A. Walton found him on April 9 living with 31-year-old Jonathan Neil Hayes, 25-year-old Eva M. Campbell and Campbell's five-year-old child at a home on South Pixley Knob Road in eastern Washington County.
Shortly after launching their investigation, the troopers learned that the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Unit also was investigating Walton and Hayes for possible drug charges. The troopers then combined their efforts.
After meeting with Walton at the South Pixley Knob location, troopers obtained a search warrant and conducted a search of the home. They found meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
All three adults were arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail. The five-year-old child was placed with a family member by Washington County Child Protective Services.
Walton is charged with failure to register as a sex offender, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hayes and Campbell are charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of drug paraphernalia and neglect of a dependent.
