(BEDFORD) - Two Carlise men were arrested on numerous drug charges after Bedford Police found an active meth lab in their truck.
Bedford police received a 911 call reporting an erratic driver in a pickup truck.
"The caller reported they had been following the truck since it left the Eastern Greene County school parking lot and called us when they got close to Bedford" says Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley. "Officers located the truck in the Lowe's parking lot."
Two men were in the truck.
35-year-old Markus Arthur of Carlise gave police a false name. The other man, 28-year-old Thomas Taft also of Carlise, had a glass pipe sticking out of his wallet.
Police also saw a syringe lying on the seat of the truck.
"Mr. Arthur gave police a false name of a man who lived in Terre Haute. That man's description came back and it was not the man officers were talking to. Officers then located an Indiana State ID with Markus Arthur's name on it."
While officers were searching the men they found that both men had baggies of meth in their pockets.
The men were arrested.
While doing an inventory of the truck so it could be towed, officers located a cooler in the back which contained an active meth lab. They also located several items and chemicals to make the meth.
"At that point officers contacted the Drug Task Force, who then contacted the Indiana State Police to dismantle the meth lab and dispose of the dangerous chemicals," Parsley added.
Arthur was arrested on charges of dealing, possession and manufacturing meth, visiting a common nuisance, possession of a fake driver's license and was wanted on a warrant in Knox County for failure to appear.
Taft was arrested on charges of being an unlicensed driver, dealing, possession and manufacturing meth and maintaining a common nuisance.
