(DUBOIS CO.) - A Saint Anthony woman was injured in an ATV crash Sunday morning.
According to an Indiana Conservation Officer, 21-year-old Nicole Recker was driving on Saint Anthony Road North and started to brake when for an unknown reason the ATV flipped and landed on top of her.
A person on a second ATV, who was driving behind Recker, stopped and quickly removed her from underneath the ATV.
Recker, who suffered facial injuries, was taken to a residence and then transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital and then later transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.
Police say alcohol may have been a contributing factor and Recker was not wearing protective gear.
The accident is still under investigation.
Responding agencies included the Dubois County 911 Dispatch Center, Dubois County Sheriffs Department and Indiana Conservation Officers.
Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage the use of protective equipment such as helmets, gloves and chest protectors while operating an ATV.
