(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested 49-year-old James Carr of Bloomington for allegedly robbing a Sahara Mart on May 12.
According to police, just before 8 p.m. on May 12, an employee at the market located in the 500 block of South Walnut Street says a white man in his 40s and who they believed was intoxicated entered the store and reached over the counter to grab money from the cash register.
Police say the employee was able to grab the money back from the man. That is when the man went behind the counter, pushed the woman and grabbed the cash back.
The man then fled on foot. He was last seen at Second and Walnut streets.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters, police used surveillance videos to identify Carr. He was found at an apartment at Second Street and College Avenue Sunday afternoon and arrested.
Carr, who told police he was intoxicated at the time of the robbery, says he remembers stealing the money, but didn't recall getting into a shoving match with the employee.
Carr told police he used the money to buy heroin.
