(NINEVEH) - Brown County Detectives have determined that 31-year-old Christopher Lucas died after he accidentally shot himself during target practice at his home on Beam Blossom Road.
Officers were called to the home in Nineveh after a woman called 911 to report that she found Lucas unresponsive and not breathing just after 7 p.m. Saturday.
The woman began CPR and continued until emergency crews arrived.
Lucas was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m.
He died after suffering a gunshot wound to his lower torso.
Brown County Police Chief Deputy Mike Morris says Lucas; who liked old-type, cowboy-type guns, and was practicing quick-draws and rapid firing; was home alone and practicing with a .22-caliber Chiappa revolver at the time of the fatal shooting.
