Four Injured When SUV Collides With Paoli School Bus

(SHOALS) - Four people were injured when an SUV collided with a Paoli School Corporation bus carrying members of the Paoli High School baseball team.

The crash happened Saturday on U.S. 150 around 5:20 p.m.

According to an Indiana State Police report, 41-year-old Bart Drew of Washington was traveling westbound on U.S. 150 in his black Chevrolet Trailblazer. After passing Panhandle Road, Drew lost control of his Chevrolet in the curve due to the wet roadway and collided with a 15 passenger Ford bus.

The bus, driven by 37-year-old Jeremy Ashley of Paoli, belonged to the Paoli Community School Corporation and was carrying Ashley, a coach and six members of the Paoli High School baseball team.

Drew was extracted from his vehicle by the Shoals Fire Department and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Drew's two passengers, 15-year-old Chase and 9-year-old Grace, both suffered minor injuries and were transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

Only one person was injured on the bus, 17-year-old Connor Blair, of Paoli, suffered minor injuries. He was transported to IU Health in Paoli.

The crash remains under investigation.

Indiana State Police were assisted by West Baden Police, Martin County Sheriff's Department, Shoals Fire Department, IU Health and Martin County EMS.
