(SEYMOUR) - The public is invited to hear the stories of Hoosier hero Charles Layton, whose life experiences will be presented from 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 6 at the Jackson County Public Library in Seymour.
Registration for Escaped with Honor is preferred by Wednesday by going to my jclibrary.org/events or calling the Seymour Library at 812-523-4636.
Layton's book, "Escaped with Honor," tells of a sad childhood and difficult teen years that led to his being drafted into the Army. Although he was captured in Korea, Layton has a positive message about life and the lessons he learned while he was a prisoner of war. Layton will sell and autograph copies of his book, which was edited by Seymour resident Georgiann Coons.
Those interested should watch for many kinds of "hero" programs for all ages being presented this summer during the Jackson County Public Library's Summer Reading Program, which is themed: Every Hero Has a Story.
