(HAYESVILLE) - Charges are pending against a Dubois County who authorities say crashed her SUV into a home on Haysville’s south side Sunday morning and then tried to leave the scene.
According to a Dubois County Sheriff's Department report, 40-year old Bethelyn Morris of Haysville was intoxicated when her SUV struck the home of Charles Nehmer in the 7200 block of North U.S. 231.
Police say Morris was westbound on Haysville Road West and then turned into the parking lot of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Police say she drove south through the lot before striking the Nehmer house.
The impact caused damage to the home's foundation.
According to police, Morris then left the scene heading south on 231. She then partially pulled into a private drive a short distance and then stopped.
Then for whatever reason, Morris backed up back onto US 231 and then drove off of the west side of the road, backing through a large ditch before coming to rest in the yard of a second home, damaging the yard.
Morris was transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper and then transferred to an Evansville hospital for treatment..
