(SULLIVAN) - A wrongful death lawsuit filed in the death of a toddler during a Sullivan daycare fire has been settled.
WWBL reports that Emma Lloyd died of smoke inhalation during the March 2014 fire at Waterman's Wonderland Daycare in Sullivan.
The lawsuit filed in Sullivan County Circuit Court alleged the 17-month-old's death was caused by Christa Watermans' negligence.
The complaint noted owner Christa Waterman tried to extinguish the fire. However, when her efforts failed she got five children out of the burning building, but left Emma Lloyd behind.
A State Fire Marshal report indicates a baseboard heater set a couch on fire causing the deadly blaze.
Edward McGlone, attorney for the toddler's father, George Lloyd, says the details of the settlement are confidential.
