(BEDFORD) - Bedford City officials hope to move the Milwaukee Depot to its new home downtown this fall.
But first the Board of Works says, Sanders Services will have to remove and dispose of the lead paint, bird droppings and some interior walls before the move.
The city of Bedford will pay $57,168 to complete that work, which they hope to have done by August.
Then funds from the Indiana Department of Transportation, part of the Stellar Grant projects, will pay to move the depot to the southwest corner of 14th and J streets. Work must be complete by the end of 2016.
The building will be used as a trailhead for the downtown Limestone Trail and serve as office space.
