(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was injured after he was partially ejected from his vehicle after crashing on Ind. 60 East near Thralls Road, Tuesday afternoon.
According to a Lawrence County police report, 25-year-old Kevin Dyke was flown to a Louisville Hospital by helicopter after suffering fractures and dislocations.
Police say Dyke was traveling east on Ind. 60 East at a high-rate of speed when he lost control of his 1995 Toyota 4-Runner. According to a witness, the vehicle began swerving out of control, drove off the right side of the road hitting a mailbox and then rolled three times before crashing against a tree. Police say Dyke smelled of alcohol.
His girlfriend, Amanda Durham told police the two had been arguing just before the accident and that Dyke had passed her on Ind. 60 traveling at a high-rate of speed.
The vehicle then caught on fire after crashing, according to the police log.
Assisting at the scene was a Seals ambulance and Huron and Marion Volunteer firefighters and the Bedford Fire Department extrication unit.
