(OOLITIC) - Today is the last day to sign up to compete in the first Oolitic Festival Queen contest.
Miss Indiana USA Gretchen Reece will crown the first Oolitic Festival Queen.
The Oolitic Festival is scheduled for June 12-13 and new this year is the Queen Pageant.
Any girl in Lawrence County that will be in the 9th grade during the 2015-16 school year to this year's graduating seniors can participate.
Registration cost is $30. Registration forms and payment must be turned in at the Oolitic Town Hall by today.
Registration forms can be found on the Oolitic Facebook page, Oolitic Town Hall, at all middle and high schools.
A mandatory parent meeting will be held on May 8 at 7 p.m. at the Old Oolitic High School Gym. There will also be two mandatory practices.
The pageant will June 12 at 7 p.m. with the queen being crowned by Reece on June 13 at 9 a.m. in the Old Oolitic High School Gym.
Judges will also name a princess and Miss Congeniality.
Judging the competition will be Cindy Matlock, former Persimmon queen in the 1960s, Michele Hardman and Ahan Hewetson.
The queen will received $300 cash, a gold leaf rose from JHoward Jewelers, a $200 certificate to compete in the Miss Teen USA or Indiana USA pageant and many other prizes.
