(JUDAH) - Lawrence County Police are looking for a man who allegedly was involved in a fight at Johnny Junction Tuesday afternoon that left one man injured.
According to Sheriff Mike Branham, officers were called about a fight involving six people around 3:13 p.m.
Branham says the fight could have been racially motivated.
"One of the men allegedly made a derogatory, racial comment at a 19-year-old Hispanic man," Branham says. "That comment started the fight."
The man who made the comment then got into the driver's seat of a 2001 red Pontiac Sunfire with two other people, and while driving away, striking the 19-year-old with his vehicle.
The teen suffered a leg injury and was taken to Monroe Hospital by an IU Health Hospital ambulance.
"Detectives are trying to track the driver of that vehicle," Branham added. "The driver is a white man with a thin build and short dark brown or dirty blonde hair. He is believed to be between 5 feet, 11 inches and 6 feet tall."
The license plate is Indiana plate 789ANY.
Officers went to the home where the vehicle was registered, but the owner no longer lives there.
Anyone with information about the vehicle or the man is asked to call the Lawrence County Police Department at (812) 275-3316, or the tip line at (812) 277-2020. Tips can be anonymous.
