(SELLERSBURG) - Sellersburg election officials have disqualified a provisional ballot that could have broken a tie in town council primacy race deadlocked at 29 votes each.
The voter who cast the provisional ballot in the Sellersburg Town Council race initially voted with a Democratic ballot, but later requested to re-vote with a Republican ballot.
Because the first ballot had already been run through the voting machine and counted, the voter's second ballot wasn't tabulated during the May primary.
Clark County Clerk Susan Popp tells the News and Tribune that would have meant the voter had voted twice. The county election board rejected that ballot Friday.
A precinct committee will vote within 10 days on whether Republican Doug Reiter or incumbent Mike Lockhart will face Democrat Brad Amos in November.
