(MITCHELL) - Two men were arrested after Mitchell Police conducted a traffic stop and found drugs Sunday night.
Just after 10 p.m. a Mitchell police officer pulled over a vehicle in the parking lot of Ruler's Food Store after the driver disregarded a stop sign.
According to Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman, during the traffic stop the officer requested Lawrence County police officer Jordan Wheelock to bring his canine, Suri, to check the vehicle. Suri alerted police to possible drugs in the vehicle.
Police arrested 24-year-old Ryan Pierce of Bloomington on charges of driving while driver's license suspended, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance. He was cited for disregarding a stop sign and false and fictitious registration.
His passenger 52-year-old Warner Martin of Mitchell is facing charges of possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.
