(BEDFORD) - The Ugly Duck Derby Friday night at John Lowery Municipal Pool a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club earned an estimated $37,500.
The Belly Buster competition was a chilly event ending with a tie-breaker.
Bedford North Lawrence Swim Coach Terry Tlustek and Barber Gavin Steele tied at the end of two dives.
The tie was broke with a dive-off with both men diving off low boards at the same time resulting in Steele being named the winner by a one-point margin.
A Springville Elementary School teacher claimed the grand prize when her duck won her a two-year lease of a Ford Focus donated by Bedford Ford and Dale and Pam McIntyre. Her duck was plucked from thousands of ducks dumped down the slide at the pool.
The BNL girls and boys basketball teams battled it out in a race of big inflatable ducks, with the girls claiming the victory.
The final duck race of the night was a limited pool of 100 ducks, each one sold for $100. John Storms bought the winning duck and will get to choose between a cash prize of $3,000 or a 2014 Honda ATV from M&E Honda.
