(BEDFORD) - When all the funds are collected from the White River Humane Society Bone Appetit “Viva Paws Vegas” $23,000 will benefit the homeless animals of Lawrence County.
More than 420 people participated in the annual dinner and auction held April 25 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds Expo Hall.
Shelter Administrative Director Eden Dillman says so far they have collected $21,000, but there still is $1,800 from the silent auction out. Once that is collected the total for the homeless animals of Lawrence County will reach $23,000.
Dillman would like to thank the community for their support.
Board President Buddy Hendricks presented longtime volunteer Sammie Kay Polley with the Lifetime Achievement
Polley sells around 100 tickets for the event every year, sends out annual membership reminders and makes phone calls for donations and lends a helping hand whenever possible.
Hendricks also thanked the family of Ken Barnes, who passed away in April, for designating memorials be made to the WRHS. So far, $1,350 has been donated to the shelter in Barnes' name.
