(MITCHELL) - A work day is scheduled at the Boyhood Home of Astronaut Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The day will get the home prepared for the upcoming tourism season.
Tasks will include washing windows, both inside and out, general cleaning of the home and maybe a little touch-up painting on the interior.
Work is also needed on the garage/workshop building and sticks and general yard work needs done.
The home is scheduled to be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend through the end of October. There may also be some Sunday hours through the summer as well.

In addition to the work day, there will also volunteer training starting at 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Anyone interested in volunteering at the home during the summer, can attend one of the training sessions. The sessions should last about one hour.
