(WILLIAMS) - A Williams woman was injured after she lost control of her vehicle on Stumphole Bridge Road and it flipped on its side.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 56-year-old Ellen Pyle was traveling east on Stumphole Bridge Road when she topped a hill and noticed another vehicle and realized she was driving in the middle of the road.
Pyle told police she yanked the steering wheel of her 1999 Ford Explorer to the right which caused her vehicle to run off the edge of the road. Police say she then over-corrected which caused the Explorer to skid around and then go off the south side of the road striking the embankment and a fence which caused the Explore to flip on its side.
Pyle was able to escape out the back hatch.
Pyle suffered head contusions and bruising. She was taken by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.
Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Williams and Indian Creek and the Bedford Fire Department extrication unit.
