On Friday, Hays says there will be a guided birding trip on Muscatatuck by van from 8 a.m. to noon. Advance registration is required. Beginning at 2 p.m., officials say there will be a "Big Tree Walk" leaving from the Refuge Visitor Center. The day wraps up at 8 p.m. with a program on "Calls of Frogs and Toads" and at 9 p.m. with an "Owl Prowl"

Events continue Saturday with a relaxing "Morning Bird Walk" at 8 a.m. Organizers say this event is open to all ages and abilities. From 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., there will be "Birdhouse Building for Kids" where youngsters can make a wren house. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a variety of children's wildlife activities taking place. Other events scheduled for Saturday include a "Hawks and Eagles of Indiana" program with live birds, a chance to paint wild birds on canvas and a "Bird Calling Contest." Organizers add that there will be regular guided van tours of the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge throughout the day.

The festival wraps up Sunday, with a guided van tour of Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge near Madison. It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon.
