(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Area Birth Services, or BABS, announced they will be closing their doors at the end of June.
Janessa Gerber, president of BABS board of directors, says fundraising efforts have not kept up with program growth over the last several years.
But the group is hoping to reopen in October. The board is planning to spend the next few months. researching the needs of the community and restructuring their business model to match them.
The financial troubles is because they offer many services on a sliding scale prices or free for families who would be unable to afford them otherwise.
BABS will continue to conduct childbirth education, prenatal yoga and referral services over the summer months.
