(BLOOMINGTON) - A Monroe County Jail officer has been fired after being charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Fender was arrested after a Bloomington police officer stopped him for speeding at North Maple Street and West 17th Street at 3 a.m. on June 5.
35-year-old Jeremy Fender of Bedford was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment and with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol content.
He spent about six hours at the jail and posted a $500 surety, $500 cash bond.
Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain says Sgt. Fender had been a corrections officer for 11 years.
Fender is scheduled to appear in Monroe Circuit Court on July 9 for a pretrial conference.
