(BROWNSTOWN) - The Brownstown Farmers Market will officially open for business at 7 a.m. today at 121 S. Walnut St., across from the Jackson County Courthouse.
Vendors are invited to bring produce, flowers, crafts, prepared foods, etc. to the site of the former Brownstown Feed Exchange.
The market will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. This market is free to vendors, with no setup fee charged.
Vendors must complete an application, which will be available on site Wednesday and will be kept on file in the Jackson County Purdue Extension Office at the courthouse. Applications also are available at the extension office and can be completed before opening day.
Any vendor wanting to sell prepared food items (cakes, pies, cookies, etc.) must comply with county and state health regulations. The extension office can offer this information, or vendors may call the health department at (812) 522-6474 or visit the website at jacksoncounty.in.gov.
Blondie's Pizzeria and Pub will serve tenderloin and fish sandwiches under a tent in front of the restaurant during lunchtime.
Brian Wolka, a Brownstown/Ewing Main Street board member, and Blake Hackman, the FFA teacher at Brownstown Central High School, will manage the market.
