Man Arrested After Helping Woman Wanted By Police Hide

Last updated on Monday, June 22, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant after he allegedly helped a woman who was wanted by police by hiding her in a closet.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on June 11, a officer with the Bedford Police Department and Lawrence County Police Department went to a home in the 700 block of Glendale Way to look for 39-year-old Frankie Meadows who was wanted on warrant for petition to revoke her probation.

Police knocked on the door several times but no one would answer, but officers heard movement inside the home. They could see through a window 26-year-old Nathan Daggy talking to Meadows. They also saw Meadows trying to hide from police.

After continuously knocking, another woman living at the home eventually answered the door and allowed police to come inside.

Once inside they spoke to Daggy.

Daggy knew Meadows was wanted on warrants, according to the court document, but told police he had not heard from her or seen her in a couple of days.

Daggy walked into a room where Meadows was hiding in a closet and continued to tell police she was not there.

That is when police heard Meadows whispering to Daggy from the closet.

Police ordered Meadows out of the closet, but she wouldn't come out.

Daggy then left the room and went to the kitchen to talk to his mother.

That is when officer opened the closet and found Meadows.

She was arrested and taken to jail. Meadows was on probation for a March 2014 charge of unlawful possession of a legend drug which she had plead guilty.

A warrant was then issued for Daggy for assisting a criminal.

According to jail officials, he was released Thursday on his own recognizance.
