(BLOOMFIELD) - A Lyons man was sentenced to 8 years in prison for child molesting.
51-year-old Charles E. Criss Jr. was arrested in July 2014 on two felony counts of child molesting.
According to court records, Criss was accused of inappropriate behavior with two young children, but Criss denied the allegations. However he failed a polygraph test and allegedly told polygraph examiner that he did the crimes.
Criss pled guilty to the crimes in a negotiated plea agreement which included a sentence enhancement because Criss was a repeat sex offender.
Under the terms of the agreement, Criss was to enter a plea of guilty to one count and the state agreed to drop the second. However, the state asked for a sentence enhancement because Criss was a repeat sexual offender.
Criss was sentenced to serve six years for child molesting and an additional two years was added because he was a repeat offender.
Under Indiana law, when he is released from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
